These were purchased at an electronics liquidation earlier this year, and they were brand new in the original factory bags. We repackaged them in 4mil Ziplok bags for resale. I don't know what these were originally intended for, but they would certainly add a special touch to your electronic project, stereo equipment, road gear, etc. When people ask you about them, keep a straight face and tell them all sorts of things:
"They were on sale at Tiffany's yesterday for $375.00 apiece. I've always shopped for electronics at Cartier in France, but it's trendy to act like you're cutting back."
"Son, these were awarded to your great-great grandfather, who was an electronics engineer for the Confederacy in the Civil War!"
"Yeah, I know that's not how most people hook up an electric guitar, but don't they look fancy!"
"Of course they pull your earlobes Baby, but that's the style nowadays!"
"No, no, Honey the prongs go in your nose!"
They were manufactured several years ago, before the price of gold went through the roof. We have several loose pieces that have lain around the store for months, and they are just as bright and shiny now as they were when we received them. The screws are gold plated steel, and that is the only part that is attracted to a magnet. Everything else is non-magnetic. I milled one of the terminals with a file, and the material has a gold color through-and-through. Likewise, the part number ends in "SG" (solid gold?). But all dreaming aside, presumably they are gold plated brass.
