* These stretch film hand dispensers extend wider than the diameter of the roll, they dispense and protect at the same time. For example, when a roll of film is dropped, nothing protects the edge of the roll from getting damaged. You have to roll off and waste many layers of film to get past the "ding." However, since these hand dispensers extend past the roll, it keeps the film from getting dinged if accidentally dropped. With stretch films getting thinner in gauge/micron the need for film edge protection is even greater.
