Malaysian serama hatching eggs..very small...30+

Malaysian Seramas are the smallest and lightest bantam chickens. They are the most popular house pets in Malaysia because of their small size and the fact that they may be kept in small cages. They originated from a tropical area so they must be protected from cold temperatures below 40 degrees F. Our Seramas lived very comfortably under heat lamps in our barn during this last Kentucky winter. These hens are year round egg layers. Incubation time for Serama eggs is 19-20 days, and the chickens mature in 16-18 weeks. About five Serama eggs would equal the size of one Grade A egg.
Seramas do not breed true to size. Size A Seramas, the smallest classification, are rarely good egg layers and the eggs are difficult to hatch and often infertile. The ideal size seems to be Size B. The large majority of our Seramas are offspring from a Size B pair from Jerry's Seramas. A Size B hen will likely lay 1-2 very small eggs, 2-3 rather large eggs, and the remaining eggs will be a normal Size B size. A Size B cock will weight 13.1-16 ounces, while a hen will weigh 12.1-15 ounces.
Seramas also do not breed true to color. You can view some of the colors in our photos. It's a lot of fun to actually see the variety of colors that can be produced from the same hen and cock. There are 2500 documented colors that have been produced! These little bantams are a lot of fun, as well as friendly little characters. They are rapidly becoming the most popular bantams in the United States!
