For many years offset printers have already been using the Packing Gauge offered by Polygraphische innovative Technik Leipzig GmbH (PITSID). It can be used on plate and blanket cylinders of any diameter. The packing height over the bearer or measuring rings is electronically determined and digitally indicated. In addition to the standard, app. cm long version of the device now for the first time a cm version is available for measurement on offset varnishing forme cylinders and flexographic forme cylinders. An cm long gauge - also a new version - is intended for use on long grain presses with cylinders shorter than mm, on which labels or CD stickers are printed.
The device is held in one hand and set on the blanket or plate. The measuring value is fixed with the hold function and can be read outside the press. It is digitally indicated (in MM) with a accuracy of 1/100 mm.
Measuring can be made on cylinders of any diameter. Due to the measuring principle, only a good eye is necessary to achieve parallelism when setting the device on the cylinder. Likewise individual pressure differences have no influence on the measuring result.
