Robko 01 is a anthropomorphous robot robot arm, with 5 levels of mobility, created in Bulgaria by Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and produced in Medical Equipment Factory in Sofia. It was created like a model named Armdroid 1000. Both robots are quite similar in functionality, but have small differences in mechanics and the management.
In 1980 the first three Bulgarian microcomputers were produced. Their creators called the machine IMKO-1 for Individualen Micro Komputer /Individual Micro Computer/.
The IMKO-1 was actually an almost 100% compatible Apple II system featuring same expansion slots. Sadly, neither expansion card nor floppy disk unit were available in Bulgaria.
The first international presentation of the IMKO-1 occured at Robotics Symposium in England, in 1981. Bulgaria demonstrated then a robot controlled by a microcomputer - impressive achievement. At this time, Japaneses and U.S. robots were controlled by minicomputers. This Robot was called Robko 01 (an arm type robot).
Produced only about 4000 Robko 01 robots!
General and Technical characteristics:
- managed by 8-bit computer, also 32-bit and 64-bit computers
- driving with help of stepping electric motors
- operating rules are relatively simple and easy
- radius of the working capacity - 356 mm
- scattering of repeated positioning / repeatability / - 1 mm
- repetition accuracy of the trained point - 5mm
- opportunity for 7 inputs and 8 outputs for connection to external equipment
The last photo you can see a similarity of Robko with Armdroid / This photo is taken from sources on the Internet /.
This is a rare great item saved from the communist era - one of the few things that communism has helped to develop!
