Heavy duty cable reel stand - stationary or truck mount
The stand has a very heavy duty steel tubing frame. It is 6 1/2 feet wide center area where you hold the reel. The reel you are holding is held up by a three inch solid steel rod that is locked in place by screw down bushings on each end. They unscrew so you can pick up the shaft to load and unload different reels. It all works good.
There is a brake attachment on one end of the shaft that you can adjust so that there is drag on the reel as you turn it. It has a sliding steel bar that you use to stick into a hole on the side of the cable reels to lock them onto the shaft so they only freewheel when the brake is loose. It works like it should.
The stand is 8 feet wide, 9 feet deep from front to back, and 6 feet tall. The distance from the shaft to the ground is 5 feet. So it will hold up to a 9 feet in diameter reel and still have it several inches off the ground.
I tried weighing the stand with a Dillon crane scale which is not the most accurate, and it weighed around 1800 pounds. It is a good heavy stand.
The wooden reel shown in the photos is not included with the stand, but the removable shaft and everything else is. The wooden reel is my only one and I need it to test reel trailers and things like that.
