Most movies are filmed in Cinemascope.
A Cinemascope screen is wider than a LCD TV and is the same shape as most movies at the theatre.
There are no more annoying black bars top and bottom, you will enjoy most movies on the whole screen not squashed into one half !
A Cinemascope screen is the ultimate movie screen.
With enough light in the room to read a book, the image on the black screen was shocking and easily enjoyed.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, will prepare you for what it can do when the lights go off.
With the lights down, and Pixar s Wall-E on Blu-ray I hit play ...
I don t know how else to describe this, other than to say DAMN.
The image just appeared and seemingly hovered in space 12 feet in front of me.
The image simply seemed confined by some sort of magic box that hovered in space.
Black levels when Wall E launches into space, were superb and were among the best I d ever seen ...

Unlike flat-panel displays, the screen showcased zero reflections across the image surface.
The result was very impressive.
The three-dimensional quality was present in spades during The Matrix: Revolutions demo from the contours of the actors faces to the buildings in the furthest reaches of the image.
The image was just so utterly brilliant and complete from top to bottom that I drifted away from taking notes and began watching the film, which is a rarity, given how many times I ve seen this movie.
Turn on your LCD TV or plasma TV and turn all the lights on or open a window. While you will still see an image, it will be washed out a bit or, worse, have massive reflections across the screen from the light sources.
While I can still see an image on my Stewart screen, it s quite obviously washed-out and pale, whereas with the black [4K UHD screen] it still looks bright and colorful.
That s about as bright as a 60-inch plasma TV is capable of putting out.
The black [4K UHD screen] is engineered to be compatible with the latest ultra high resolution digital cinema projectors (4K) that have [six times] the detail of today s 1080p home theater projectors.
The contrast ratio was higher than 12,000 to 1.
I found it very pleasing to watch. It reminded me of a (100 +) plasma TV that will be unavailable soon !
I placed a lamp on the sides of the screen, there was almost no effect on the image.
The black screen was an amazing product.
To see such good preservation of image quality and contrast with the lights on was a unique experience.

The performance is worth every penny for those who do not have the ability or desire to eliminate ambient light from their viewing room.
I was very impressed at its ability to deliver a colorful and punchy picture even in high ambient lighting.
Keeps contrast high, even in low ambient light situations (like evening viewing), by reducing the amount of light bouncing around the room and back onto the screen.
I opened all the blinds and shades on a very sunny Palm Springs day and propped the black screen next to my Stewart Firehawk G3 [one of the very best screens on the market].
Compared to the Stewart screen, which was washed out with the ambient light in the room,
the black [4K UHD] screen had much more contrast and a punchy, colorful picture that looked just great.
The nearly black screen surface together with the elegant wood-accented frame with black velvet trim looks more reminiscent of a luxury plasma TV than a projector screen.
The screen excels at maintaining deep blacks even when I bring up the room lighting.
I think they ve got another winner.

Normally, if you change your mind as to the aspect ratio (shape) or gain (brightness) within a few days of ordering it is fine, as long as it was not an urgent "rush" order.
The black screens have been specially engineered to be future proof.
They work very well with resolutions of 4K (4096 x 3072), which is six times the detail of 1080P !
They excel at 1080P (1920 x 1080) and 2K (2048 x 1536 - the current Digital Cinema standard and next HDTV standard).
They have been designed to have a very smooth surface that allows for the reflection of minute detail found in a high definition 4K image.
Screens with a noticeable surface texture can easily make an image appear noisy, less sharp and far less detailed.
With these new black screens you won t have to sacrifice picture detail to get good ambient light performance.
In a dark environment normal screens scatter and reflect light onto the walls, floors, and ceilings.
This makes the room brighter and the light is reflected back onto the screen washing out the picture and distracting you from the movie.
Black screens reduce light scatter by over 75%, drastically increasing contrast and above all viewer immersion.
Bright Environment and Ambient Light Rejection
In a bright environment black screens are the only screens that absorb unwanted ambient light.
Light which hits the screen from an angle, ie from above or side, is not reflected back to the audience.
This allows projection to exist with the lights on and off !
In a home theater, the biggest cause of loss of on-screen contrast is light.
When light hits a conventional screen, it washes out black levels and reduces contrast by significant amounts.
With our new black screens only the projectors light is reflected back into the viewers eyes.
The Black 4K UHD screens have 300% more contrast than conventional front screens.
Our Elite UHD screens have up to 700% higher contrast than conventional front screens.
Black Screen - Looks like a 100 inch LCD TV / 100 inch PLASMA TV
As near black is the native screen material color, it looks like a LCD TV when switched off.
If you are looking for the ultimate room decor, and want to keep the wife happy, she can choose a from a range of custom velvet and hardwood veneers to be added to the luxurious 3.5 beveled frame.
Due to two unique properties of these screens
1. Near black color of the screen and
2. Superb Ambient light rejection
These screens do not need masking systems. They appear to be perfectly masked.
Particularly the 0.8 gain versions.
So when switching between cinemascope movies and normal HDTV you will definitely not notice those annoying grey/black bars as much as you would with a normal screen, LCD TV or Plasma TV.
Differences between 0.8, 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 gain versions
The 2.0 gain is the brightest and has the highest contrast.
These screens give the images more pop in a dark room. It has a narrower viewing angle and especially suits long narrow rooms.
1.4 and 1.6 are in the middle and both give a very good compromise between viewing angle, brightness and ambient light rejection.
The 0.8 gains are darker - looks more like a 100 inch LCD TV in daylight. It rejects ambient light better and has a good wide viewing angle.
If you have a powerful projector you can have a 0.8 projector screen.
With a powerful projector and a small screen 0.8 will give you a great picture for day and night.
With a normal projector and a large screen 1.4 / 1.6 is better, otherwise the image might not be bright enough.
If you have a very dark room with dark walls, floor and ceiling and watch in the evening then 1.4 / 1.6 gain is better.
If you are lucky enough to have a super bright projector then you can have a large 156 0.8 gain screen
- giving you a 150 inch LCD TV / 150 inch Plasma TV like picture in the daytime and at night !

The 1.4-gain version had less of a plasma appearance when the lights were on, while the 0.8-gain version had it in spades.
The 1.4-gain version amplifies the projector s lumen output, producing a striking, high-contrast picture.
While [the 1.4] does not retain as much of that plasma TV appearance as does the 0.8 gain version, it is still an extremely capable ambient light screen.
