Multi-Varimex Maze Controllers

Inside each Multi-Varimex units are 4 gate acquisition modules (represented by the four 25-pin D-SUB connectors on the front panel). Each module monitors 4 infrared gates, therefore one Multi-Varimex unit can monitor up to 16 infrared gates. The Multi-Varimex unit connects to any free 9-pin serial port on the host computer. An expansion unit is connected to the first unit by way of the CI-Bus port. The CI-Bus is a hardware and serial communication protocol. It allows all products to connect together using standard Cat 5 cables.
- one Multi-Varimex cabinet will connect up to 16 infrared gates
- software supports up to two Multi-Varimex cabinets for a sum of 32 infrared gates
- the Multi-Varimex units connect using standard Cat 5 cables
- gate events are recorded with 10ms resolution (100 times per session)
- the program will reject repeated breaks of the same gate, common when the animals tail breaks gates the body has already broken
- common RS-232 communication provides a convenient interface to almost any host computer with a Windows operating system

units were connected to 2 lizard velocity rigs that were incomplete and subsequently scrapped
each rig had 8 gates and 2 breakout boxes which were salvaged and are being sold in a separate listing
