Here is a Vicor FlatPAC power supply that produces 3.3 volts DC at up to 40 amps! This is model number VI-LUY-CU. Click here for the manufacturer specifications. These are popular for running high power laser diodes which need about 2V at many amps. This is typically done using either a large current limiting resistor or a MOSFET passbank as a current regulator. It may also be possible to use the built in output trim to adjust the current on this supply directly. Check Figure 6 here for information from Vicor about using this supply as a programmable current source.
This supply operates on 100-120 or 200-240VAC, 47-63Hz (autoranging). This was removed from equipment and tested under load.
