This is a genuine Merlin Gerin model CK Circuit Breaker with the Long and Instantaneous (L, I,) solid state Electronic trip, not a Switch or a Contactor and not the older mechanical Thermal-Mag tripped type Circuit Breaker.
1. Is the compared item actually a Circuit Breaker? (A Circuit Breaker has a built-in sensor to detect short circuit and overcurrent condition
as opposed to a Switch which has none of those features).
4. Are the cable lugs for the LINE and LOAD sides included? (If not, they will have to be purchased separately AND at higher SPARE PARTS cost).
Background Info: Merlin Gerin is a brand name that is proprietary to the Schneider Group who has acquired the Square D Company and its subsidiaries worldwide a few years ago.
Since then, Schneider has selectively discontinued the distribution of the Merlin Gerin brand circuit breakers in its North American market and replaced the line with compatible Square D s line of Circuit Breakers instead. Merlin Gerin Circuit Breakers still play a dominant role in its European and other non-US markets and continues to receive product support from the Schneider Group.
