Yes, all Bar Code Numbers we sell come directly from GS1, we are able to sell them at such a discounted price due to a Class Action lawsuit involving the U.C.C (Now GS1) which enables us to resell our numbers that have never been used and will never be used by us.
Quoting the UCC Settlement web site:
"The settlement also provides that the "licensing agreement," which accompanied UCC renewal fee invoices, is null and void as to those who became members in UCC before August 28, 2002."
The Manufacturer Number, also called the Company Prefix, was assigned to Bar Codes Talk, Inc. on August 4, 1994. A Universal Product Code Number was assigned to Bar Codes Talk, Inc. prior to August 28, 2002. The "licensing agreement" stated, at that time, that the number was for the use of Bar codes Talk, Inc. only. The licensing agreement became NULL AND VOID on August 28, 2002. This Court Order gave the right to Bar Codes Talk, Inc. to orderly assign their numbers to other Companies, Businesses, Organizations, or persons.
