FiltEars use patented technology that replicates the natural response of the ear canal so that sound heard with FiltEars is as clear as the original, just quieter. They are reusable and can simply be cleaned between uses with a damp sponge or tissue. They are available in a variety of colors: Blue, Red, Purple, Clear, Translucent Beige and Solid Beige and include a neckcord, case and instruction card.
How Much Protection Do You Need?
Hearing loss is a function of exposure time, the average sound level, and the peak level of very loud sunds. Exposure to excessive noise can cause hearing loss, depending on the intensity and duration of the noise. Some persons are more susceptible to earing loss from high-level sound than others. FiltEars provide 20 dB of sound reduction, other earplugs provide too much sound reduction for many enivironments.
The Environmental Protection Agency requires manufacturers to print a noise reduction rating (NRR) on all non-custom earplugs. NRR is computed from laboratory data that are not representative of the values attained in the real world by actual users. The NRR for FiltEars earplugs is 12 dB, but the actual clinical measurments of properly inserted FiltEars indicate that thses earplugs provide almost equal sound reduction (20 dB) at all frequencies.
