M0ZWW 80M inductors for half size G5RV
What we have on offer is a set of M0ZWW 80m inductors
If you are a bit tight for space this could be the answer.
Used to give you 80m from a half size G5RV.
I use these for /P work with a FT817 and have had fantastic reports, also used at home with FB reports
Just remove the insulators from the end of your g5rv crimp these on to both ends, and add another 6-8 feet for wire on the other side
(depending on what part of the band you want) re-attach the insulator.....job done!
You can even droop the ends down if needed!
Remember these are inductors and not lossey traps which will turn your rf to heat, (good for keeping the birds warm, not so good for radio work)
After looking at sets of commercial inductor kits the first thing I noted was there construction.
At a quick glance they look fine, and then when you look closer you can see that the formers are nice and light due to the thin Perspex formers. The problem being if you drop them on a hard surface like the garden patio, or the path way, there s a good chance they will crack, or shatter (from experience!). They also use nice thin brass nuts and bolts, but a lack of strain relief may also cause cracking at this weak point! Also the skinny bolts being soft brass can also bend..
I tested a set to destruction before designing my own inductors.
I decided to build mine from 2mm white conduit, try cracking this! And M5 nuts and bolts, you won't bend these!
