International IEC CR-6000 Refrigerated Centrifuge
This is a working centrifuge, even as pictured. It cools, it spins, it times. The fastest it would spin with the rotor installed complete with the buckets was 2810. That was with the speed control wide open, but it s a very heavy load, the buckets and inserts collectively weigh almost 4 kilos. Being maxed out like that also caused the temperature to rise a couple of degrees to -3 C. With the buckets removed it was pretty happy spinning at 3500 RPM and -5 degrees C. I ran it like that for about 35 minutes and the only issue that I noticed is that every once in awhile the speed would inexplicably sag to around 3400 RPM, but after a minute or two it would recover and go back to 3500. The testing was done in an old warehouse using a 100 foot extension cord. There is a heat pump in use in another part of the warehouse over which I have no control. I m guessing that when that kicked in the voltage might have sagged a bit and caused the slower speed. The centrifuge is set up for 110 volts, 20 amp service.
The centrifuge is untested other than as described, and no warranty is offered. Comes with a spare set of brushes for the motor, but no manual and no accessories. It does not come with a rotor, although I may have one offered separately that will fit (testing was done with a very nice #259, which is shown in the picture of the frosty interior- AGAIN- NOT INCLUDED). Please check out my other listings for a variety of other centrifuges and rotors, plus lots of other cool lab gear.
