This is not your typical consumer generator head that screams along at 3600 rpm. The TFDW units run at a comfortable 1800 rpm. This fact alone accounts for a huge increase in service life. The integral cooling fan is made of cast iron metal, unlike the fragile plastic fans found in most generator heads.

Cooling This unit uses a closed circuit water filled radiator design similar to that found in a diesel truck. The radiator is mounted on the generator frame, not the engine, to isolate it from engine vibrations.
The engine is a Chinese built clone of a Cummins diesel. Any diesel mechanic will be familiar with this design. It is in used throughout the world in literally millions of applications.
A safety system is built into the generator set that will automatically shut down the engine if it senses WATER OVER TEMPERATURE , OIL OVER TEMPERATURE , LOW OIL PRESSURE or RPM OVER SPEED .
All units are equipped with a base tank which holds enough fuel for an 8 hour run time at max load. This unit has a 16 gallon base tank. This unit will burn approximately 2 gallons of fuel per hour at full 24KW load. Running a 12KW load will use about 1 gallon per hour. This would produce a run time of about 16 hours. A normal load for my home is about 8KW, with the central A/C running. Under these conditions a full fuel tank would last about 24 hours.
If you are interested in the doing the math, the engine uses about .085 gallons per hour per kilowatt produced.
How Many Kilowatts Does My House Use
It is simple to read your homes electrical meter to determine the electrical load at any particular moment. First turn on all the things in your home you wish measure. Then, count the time in seconds for the rotating disk in your meter to make 10 revolutions. Locate the K factor printed on the face of your meter. It is typically 3.6. Then use this formula: (k factor x 10 revs x 3600)/seconds = kilowatts.
Remember that this is only the running watts . You may need 2 or 3 times this power to start heavy motors in you A/C, Well Pump. Etc.
