This is the Basic Factory Packaged Exit Control Lock
* ECL-230D Exit Control basic lock complete with all fasteners
It is U.L. listed panic hardware and meets ADA requirements. This means that you will get no hassles from your building inspector. Application of this door hardware is designed for out-swinging exit doors. This unit is not fire rated for use on labeled fire doors. For fire rated door applications you need to look at the model ECL-600 (See it and get it here). This lock has an additional latch to meet the self latching code requirements.
The lock is mounted on the surface of the door and the strike is normally mounted on the surface of the door frame on the soffit portion of a steel frame. So you don't have to have any special holes in your door or frame. This lock can also be mounted on a narrow stile aluminum and glass storefront door with the stile dimension as narrow as 1-3/4", not including the glass stop. An additional item is required for this application to cover the back side of the lock that would be seen through the glass and protects the glass with two rubber spacers. The item number for the decorative back plate is ECL-475K. (write down that number if you think you may want it.) It is listed in our store and sold separately. You can view it and get it here.
An additional item that is recommended is the "Bar Guard Kit"...
This lock requires a key cylinder commonly referred to as a "rim cylinder" by the trade and...if you don't already have one you will need one and you can get one in my store...

Many business owners have special keying systems and the manufacturer of the key system can supply a matching rim cylinder for this lock.
In addition, outside entry is possible by simply adding one more rim cylinder and a pull handle to the exterior of the door. The lock is pre-designed for outside key control and all the parts are in the lock body as it comes in the box. The only extra requirement is that you must add an additional rim cylinder and mount it in your door. The mounting template is also clearly marked for locating the function (through the door) hole for the exterior cylinder. The hole diameter through the door, if you are using our cylinder, is 1-1/4". Now you'll be able to come in quickly from your back parking lot when it's raining. (One small point - outside key control won't work on a glass and aluminum storefront entry door and is not one of your options for that type of installation, sorry.)
