Lab-line frigid-cab 3556 flammable storage refrigerator

Lab-Line Frigid-Cab 3556 Flammable Materials Refrigerator
For sale- a Lab-Line Instruments Frigid-Cab Model 3556 Flammable Materials Storage Refrigerator. When I first checked this out the info indicated it should be functional, but when I actually got it home and plugged it in absolutely nothing happened. And the interior was kind of nasty and smelled foul, typical of a surplus refrigerator that has crapped out and had the contents go bad. I was about to chuck it when it decided it merited one last test. Turns out the thermostat was bad, with that bypassed it powers right up and cools down to about 4 degrees C in about an hour with ambient temperature in the 80 s F. After about an hour and a half it was down to 2 degrees C and that seemed to be about as low as it wanted to go in that environment. Probably good for another degree or two in a 70 degree F room.
The thermostat is a Biterm which I have pictured. Couldn t find much about it, might only be available from Lab-Line, and I have no idea what is involved in replacing it. There was a second terminal on the input side so I just plugged the output wire to that, so no cutting or splicing has been done. No reason you couldn t leave it like that I don t suppose other than the compressor would then run continuously and probably cut its lifespan. But as I have modified the refrigerator to get it to work it might be wise to have it repaired before storing any flammable materials in it. I take no responsibility for future operation, and your purchase or offer constitutes your acceptance of any hazards involved in future use and holds me blameless should a malfunction occur.
The interior cleaned up pretty well with some disinfectant and a little scrubbing. Not like new, but certainly serviceable. It would probably clean up a bit more if you were so inclined, particularly with an abrasive cleaner which I didn t have on hand. There are two shelves installed as you can see, but whatever might have been on the interior of the door is missing. I do have a few plastic containers that were in it that didn t make it into the pictures, but they are probably inconsequential. The area in back/underneath around the compressor is surprisingly clean, as were the cooling coils. So either used in a very clean room, which is entirely possible, or very well maintained, or of a recent vintage. Or some combination.
